Qrip.io

Qrip.io is a QR-code tool dedicated to the diverse use of QR-codes for big and small businesses as well as freelancers to promote their work, products and broaden their network. By offering the options to customize their codes and keep track of the interaction, they will be able to grow their company and understand their audience by improving their campaigns based on the interaction data.

The original designer, Alysia Gode has been my internship supervisior throughout the proces and has helped me greatly by teaching me about webdesign and what her vision for Qrip is.

During the period I worked on this project as an intern at Elastik. we aimed at getting fully designed pages about Vcards, Linktree and regular business cards, which Qrip offers to it’s users.

Research

The very first thing I started with is finding out who I’m designing for. I made a stakeholder map and empathy map to see who could possibly be involved, who would use Qrip and why they would or wouldn’t.

I learned a bit more about the use of QR-codes, Vcards and Linktree to be able to encourage the use of these product en provide the targetgroup with the correct information.

Besides doing research on the targetgroup and products, I also looked at other SaaS websites to get a general idea of the website structure and the content you can find.

Sketches and concepts

After doing some research, I started analysizing my findings to start sketching some wireframes with easy to follow structures, based on other SaaS websites.

Designs

After some concepts and feedback, I started with some designs, drawing inspiration from other websites, while also getting some guidance from a professional UX-designer, Alysia Gode, who is the original developer of Qrip and also my Intern supervisor.

We also replaced old mock-ups with new ones using the original designs of the existing ones to show how the product would look on your device or on a physical product.

A lot of teamwork between me and Alysia went into this as Qrip was her personal project from het internship days, until Elastik became a shareholder.

The result

The results were received positively, I got some feedback on how to improve spacing, content and usability, but overall the designs were well received. I’m very thankful for Alysia who had guided me throughout the proces and has taught me a lot about webdesign in general, as well as for trusting me to be able to help out with designing these pages.

Personal Growth

During this project, I learned a lot about researching and analyzing the targetgroup, if not personally available. By using social media and online statistics, I was able to get to know my targetaudience without actually meeting them, although I’m still a firm believer that meeting your audience in person is the best way to get to know them.

Thanks to my intern supervisor, I have learned a lot about rivaling companies, what structure they use in their websites and what content they use to reel in their customers. By asking feedback on concepts and designs, I could improve the way I design, what to look for and what is acceptable when it comes to taking inspiration from other designs.

It was a nice experience to be able to work with an experienced designer, who also knew all the ins and outs of Qrip itself and what it stands for.

Qrip is an ever-growing project, which means the improvements will not stop any time soon. Every intern at Elastik. gets a chance to work on this, to be able to keep new perspectives coming and making Qrip as innovative and attractive as possible.
